I have no idea what she weighs now, but she is wearing size 4-5T dresses and tops (3T bottoms).

Kate was potty trained at 3 years, 3 months old. She is still wearing bedtime diapers though.

She absolutely loves anything involving water…going to the beach (we are averaging twice a month now), swimming pool, bath time, playing with the garden hose, etc.

Kate has a sweet, sassy personality. She is eager to share her toys (most of the time) with Carson and her classmates. I am always getting positive reports on her from preschool.

She loves to dance and takes a dance class on Wednesdays at preschool. Her favorite thing to do is spin, skip, and kick her leg out behind her.

Kate sings in the car and often makes up her own songs.

Kate is addicted to cartoons, Dora and Hello Kitty.

Her BFFs at school are Laura and Taylor. She is extremely friendly and has never met a stranger.

She loves using all of the dish towels as her baby blankets. They are often all over the floor, and she insists that we step over them.

She eats more than Carson.

Kate continues to be independent and often plays alone with her dolls.

Purple is still her favorite color.

She loves all things girly…chap stick (that she calls lipstick), make-up and nail polish.

The things that come out of her mouth crack me up. A few nights ago, Carson was stealing her green beans at dinner and she yelled out, “Don’t mess with me!”

Kate has a major sweet tooth. She is always begging for candy…especially M&Ms.

Frankly, I’m amazed that he has grown so much since it seems like he never eats.

Carson has become a very picky eater. His favorite food is bread with butter on it.

He was potty trained at 3 years, 3 months old. To my surprise, he was easier to train than Kate. He still does not like pooping in the toilet (prefers his diaper). He will beg for a diaper when he needs to poop. Carson would also prefer to go to the bathroom in the great outdoors instead of inside (see photo above).

He is afraid of medicine, band-aids, haircuts, and the idea of going to the doctor.

He loves Mickey Mouse, little cars/trucks, school buses, fire trucks, ambulances, my car keys, cell phones, anything involving cords/cables.

Carson’s favorite things to do are ride his bike (“mo-sickle”) in the driveway and water the outside plants with the garden hose.

He has a BFF at school named Nathan. I hear about Nathan A LOT. Nathan’s mom told me that she hears about Carson A LOT.

Carson is pretty good about dressing and undressing himself.

His favorite day of the week is Thursday. Thursdays are Show-&-Tell day at preschool, and he literally counts down the days.

To be honest, Carson has been a bit of a challenge lately. He is whining a lot and the one most likely to throw a major fit. Time Out is working, but it gets frustrating for everyone.

Carson still tends to be very shy around new kids or in new environments. This is the exact opposite of Kate.

He refuses to go into the ocean. While Kate is out playing in the waves, Carson stays on the beach chair watching her or playing in the sand. He also refused to get into the swimming pool.

Even though he can be a bit of a handful, he is still very affectionate and silly. Preschool has done wonders with his vocabulary and helping to pull him out of his shell.

If you are looking for something that is fun and will keep your toddler/preschooler occupied for well over an hour? Let them wash your car. Who knew this would provide such joy — not to mention coming away with a clean car?!

Carson was King of the Hose. He threw a fit if Kate even attempted to use it. Kate was extremely focused and detailed in her cleaning. I literally had to drag them back into the house kicking and screaming because they could have spent the entire day washing the car if I had let them.

And, yes, they are washing the car in their PJs!

Yesterday was my 33rd birthday. I spent the entire day in bed — not because I was sick, but because I wanted to. It was one of those kinds of birthdays. My mom took us out for a nice steak dinner, and I came home to balloons, gifts, and cake, but I mostly wanted the day to pass quickly.

Carson has become sneaky. Very sneaky. They did not go to school on Monday. Why, you ask? Because Carson intentionally hid my car keys. (They were finally found late that evening.) On Tuesday morning I was in a panic. Why, you ask? Because Carson went and hid one shoe from each of his pairs of shoes. When I asked him about it, he replied, “No shoes. No school.” Despite a real effort to find them, I still have not located his missing shoes. So, he wore cheap flip-flops this entire week.

One night we had spaghetti for dinner. My mom and I asked Kate if she liked spaghetti, and she replied, “Yes, but I prefer mac and cheese!” We laughed forever over that one.

Today the twins had an Easter egg hunt at school. They were super excited (and strangely competitive) about it.

They are going to Austin for the weekend to visit their dad. I plan on organizing and selling on consignment their winter clothes while they are gone. It looks like the warmer weather is here for good now.

No one I think is in my tree, I mean it must be high or low. That is you can’t you know tune in but it’s all right. That is I think it’s not too bad. Let me take you down, ’cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields. Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about. Strawberry Fields forever. Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see. It’s getting hard to be someone but it all works out. It doesn’t matter much to me. Strawberry Fields forever. — The Beatles

On Saturday afternoon, the twins were treated to a new and exciting adventure — picking their own strawberries at Froberg Farms in Alvin, Texas. It was about an hour drive out there, but so worth it. There were acres and acres of strawberry rows, and they gave us buckets to pick our own strawberries. The twins did great understanding to only pick the red berries and not the green ones. Kate took a fall in some mud, but amazingly she didn’t freak out about it. Once we had picked a few buckets worth of strawberries, we paid for them ($1.80/pound…I think), and then checked out their farmers’ market. Froberg had several vegetable farms in the area, and brings over their goodies for sale at the the strawberry farm. Afterwards, we ate BBQ sandwiches and sausage-on-a-stick while sitting under huge oak trees. The weather was perfect, and it was a fantastic adventure.
